Well I went to Mini Meets West in Bend OR. I met my son and grand son in the Dalles and we set off to Bend. He has a 1971 Mini Cooper BRGreen w/white stripes. It took us about 3hrs to Bend where we found our place to stay. In the parking lot were several Mini's and we parked with them. It was an exciting time to be with so many Mini's and people that really loved these little cars. The activities were well planed out except for the Autocross at Mount Bachelor. We were on our way to the Bachelor ski area when it started snowing. Who know it would start snowing in June! Well when we got to the top of the ski area it was cold, 32deg. They said there wasn't going to be any free runs because of the snow conditions. I Wes glad of that because I wanted to get back to the worm fire place at the hotel. I ran in the first run in the Autocross, wow what a rush that was. When you walk to your car and get in the windows start fogging up because of your wet clothes. And the fan and heater in the old Mini just can't keep up with it. When I was taking the turns in the Autocross I had to hand wipe the fog off the window in order to see where the cone was to make the turn. Then there were pools of melted snow that you would slide through in other corner. But I had a great time and there were a lot of others that took on the challenge and did a great job. We also did a caravan through the city of Bend, that was a blast. Over 150+ Mini's with Police escort through this city, with people lined up along the streets cheering us on. It was so much fun to see the young kids waving to us as we went by. I know these small little cars will be loved in the future generations as well as we do today and they will carry on the Mini love for us.
